New Years Resolutions

Each year we take out a piece of paper and think about all the things we would like to change about ourselves. Whether its our weight, or our habits. And while some of these changes can be good. They often do nothing but attack or self image as the year progresses.

This year I decided not to do a New Years Resolutions. Instead I decided to write a list of things I accomplished last year. Learning how to use a dishwasher,  switching to more sustainable living, having a successful natural birth after previous c-section and breastfeeding.

While there are still things about myself I would like to change this year. I don't want to focus on my negative traits and instead focus on the positive.

In that same thought I doing more of what I enjoy spending more time hiking with my family. Cooking New dishes, reading books I long forgot I had, rereading my Bible with some friends and going back to practicing martial arts and yoga. Instead of New goals and things that I probably won't enjoy. I've gone back to doing things that used to make me excited and happy each day.

Maybe I'll keep it up, maybe I won't. But the point is I'm doing something to make me happy instead of focusing on how I need to change.
