Zero Waste Momming: Preparing for Lilah
From the hospital to the house. I have been planning for baby number two since we started trying in Janurary but that doesn't mean you know everything thats going to come up.
I've been planning everything by ear, what comes up, and things I remember with my first daughter, Ella Rose. Which is how I have a few of my bags packed and ready to go and a few more empty and waiting for inspiration.
So far I have 6 bags, I already know that sounds like a lot but let me explain.
Bag #1 is my daughter's overnight bag, I'm having a scheduled c-section so my daughter will be at her baby sitters for at least one night so in this bag is going to be her clothes, toiletries, and hairbrush.
Bag #2 is my daughters diaper bag, this bag is for her diapers, wipes, and reusable cup four juices, water, and milk
Bag #3 is my breast pump bag, it has my breast pump, my silicon breast pump, breast milk jars, nipple cream, ice packs, some cloth wipes to wipe out the parts, some soap, and a portable dish rack.
Bag #4 is the cloth diaper bag, I dont want to buy any new bags because why buy when you can use what you have. So I have this grocery bag that opens up into a box shape, I have 13 diapers packed now all preowned, I'm looking for at least 13 more on marketplace. I also have some more cloth wipes, two small spray bottles with water, and some hand sanitizer
Bag #5 is my baby backpack, this bag is full of clothes and socks for the baby at the hospital
Bag #6 is my overnight bag, this bag has my water bottle, reusable shampoo and conditioner bottle, my nursing cover, moby wrap, makeup bag which honestly only has Chapstick and Tiger balm for sore muscles, nursing tanktop, and pajamas. I still have to pack my husbands clothes and my clothes.
Honestly I just don't want to be under prepared. I'm hoping to find a good diaper bag for this baby too because I want to be able to keep the baby stuff in a smaller bag if we happen to go anywhere after they release me from the hospital because I get so tired from hospital food and waffle house sounds so good right now.
I'll post pictures and better details based on what stays and what goes in this process.
Its not about being perfect zero waste, it's about as many people trying to reduce their waste.
